Hi Jeff,
We are using an add on, under the PG&C module that makes this calculation (bottom up) and set the compliance accordingly at the top level part number.
If I understood you correctly and that’s what you are looking for, I can connect you with the guys that did this for us, so you can get more details from them.

Hi Samalendu,
The way we manage this issue is by using user groups and assigning tasks to user groups. This gave us the flexibility we needed at the user level.

We copy the project plan and it’s files to a folder on the Agile Product Collaboration and sync the files between the two (special programing). This way all users can see the docs status and project progress.
Another solution: We are using a program that was developed by our vendor. This program is taking the tasks per user from the PPM module and open them as tasks on the user’s personal outlook. It also allows to upload and download files on Agile directly form Outlook. This way the users can see their tasks on Outlook and open the relevant files directly from Outlook.
I suggested our vendor to upload it to myagielplm marketplace and they did. This is the link to their product: http://app.myagileplm.com/products/my-tasks/

Hi Antonio,
We copied the Gantt Chart from the PPM module to the product collaboration module (as a BOM) and allowed user to make changes based on their privileges (description and status, file management and more).
I don’t know what your final target is, so not sure this answers your question. what external application you refer to? MS project? other tool? are you copying the PPM Gantt to the external application and looking at ways to sync between them?

Hi Archana,
Before implementing the PPM we did a benchmark with Phillip Morris and On Semiconductors. Both companies are using the Agile PPM as a key tool for global project management. I believe they will be happy to share their experience with others.
We run 9.3 and are using the PPM phase / gate with workflows on PC. For example, once PDR / CDR / any design doc is on release process, once workflow is approved – the gate for the PDR / CDR / etc.. is set as done / completed and notifications are sent to the project team and the most updated file is easily available to all as it is located under the project’s docs / relevant gate (HLD, PDR, CDR, etc…). We use the PPM for high level planning only and MS project for the rest.
We also use the Agile as our document management tool (configured docs, as well as none configured docs). We replicate the PPM Gant structure to file folders on the PC (convert the Gant structure to BOM), so we have all docs available to all users on Agile per project, with the Agile search capabilities (very strong engine). This concept of work is working good for us, as users have most of their work environment in once place (we have multiple sites globally).
We were also checking the option to manage projects as BOMS under the PC, but the efforts in setting everything up, as well as the features that are missing for a real project managements, convinced us to use the PPM.
As a side remark: From what I know, the PPM module is being improved on each and every release of Agile, closing gaps with MS Project.
