    Import a file?  You mean you are using the import function and receiving load errors?  The screenshot you have above shows the error on the form itself.  If you are using s cvs file for the load validate the mapping and the data in the cvs column.  Verify those values match the picklist.  Validate that the picklist values that you are importing are active.

    Arif,

    I can’t think of any indicator in the system that would tell me whether the BOM was manually loaded or imported.  Perhaps you can look at why users are importing BOMs; (1) the user has privilege to import, (2) the BOM is brand new and has more than say 30 children, (3) I need to redline a BOM and there are more than say 30 edits.

    I am just not convinced you could easily report on such activities even if you set some ground rules for finding them.  What is the purpose of knowing this information?

    One more point that I didn’t touch on Keith.  You say you have NOT installed any PX’ in your environment.  One thing you must be aware of is that once you start installing the PX’ you must be conscious of these customizations any time you are looking to upgrade the Agile app.  Need to include these in the test cycles…. they tend to make upgrades ‘funner’.

    Sure Keith,

    I am not a technical guy so I would start by looking through the listing on the following page for a PX that may be helpful;

    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/samplecode/agileplm-sample-520945.html

    The Agile Dashboard is a very personal tool that can place data at a user’s fingertip or at least as the landing page each time they log in.  Since roughly 80% of the user community simply consumes data in Agile and does not participate in the change process it is very critical to get data into their hands as quickly as possible and I find the Dashboards are a great tool for this.  You can place charts (internal or external) as well as data tables (searches) results on the Dashbaord.

    The Dashbaord itself is constructed of widgets and I find that no more than 3 high and wide is perfect.  To access Dashboards in the Admin GUI simply navigate to Settings>System Settings>Dashboard Management.  You will find that you will already have some default Dashboards.  Personally I design each Dashboard view with a group in mind.  For example, my document control group would need to see any change that have been submitted, change in progress for more than 7 days, etc… so I have made a Dashbaord for them with the widgets specific to their needs.

    On a corporate-wide level I have created a very generic Dashbaord that shows any documents I have created and not released;

      Page Two.Create User In   $USER   AND
      Title Block.Rev Release Date Is Null

    Additionally the same logic but for parts.
    Another for changes I have created yet not released;

      Cover Page.Originator In   $USER   AND
      Cover Page.Status In   $STATUSTYPE.HOLD;$STATUSTYPE.PENDING;$STATUSTYPE.REVIEW;$STATUSTYPE.SUBMIT;$UNASSIGNED

    And one more for change I have yet to review that require my attention;

    [ Workflow.Approver Contains   $USER   AND
      Workflow.Workflow Status Equal To   $CURRENTSTATUS   AND
      Workflow.Approver Action Equal To   Awaiting Approval ]

    I would start by going into your test system and start playing around with the Dashboards…. I learned these in a very organic manner by experiencing and then rolling out as my understanding increased.

    Once you build the views you will need to assign then to users and to do that navigate to Settings>User Settings>Privileges>Dashbaord Tab View and create the privilege and assign it to role… login and take a look!  Additionally you can set the view as your default landing page by going into the user account and, under the Preferences tab under the heading Display Preferences, set the Preferred Start Page to the Dashboard view.

    Hope this helps!  Kinda a crash course in Dashbaords.

  • Manju,

    A bill or material is usually systematically built to reflect the manufacturing process.  To expand on that concept you start with raw materials, they in turn become sub-assemblies which in turn become a final product.

    Inherently there are two major thought process to the BOM; (1) the engineering BOM which is general comprised of material solely and might not have all the information required to manufacture and (2) the BOM used to manufacture, which usually adds fine touches such as assembly instructions and bulk material like screws and standoffs which are required to manufacture yet not important to the engineering process.

    If you sit down and map out the process from engineering to manufacturing and capture their needs you should be able to discover how you should build your BOMs.

    Gas and liquid consumption is inherently interesting since you will have two distinctly units of measure… that which is ordered and that which is consumed.  You could place it in your BOM at a quantity of zero and allow a CANBAN system to maintain stock (with this you can keep the UOM as that which is used for purchasing).  You may also call out the exact amount required by each process yet I don’t really think you gain anything going this route).

    A couple of things to be aware of; if your BOMs are being consumed downstream in an ERP you want to be conscious of setting any items quantity to 0 that is not actually consumes such as an assembly instruction.  Also when placing assemblies together you will need to decide on management rules that may be required for RMA or stocking purposes.  Example, if I make a change to a child item of a BOM (knowing that I DO NOT have to change the revision of the parent) do I need to be cognizant that this assembly will be stored on a shelf and needs to be distinguished from older stock…. must force a rev change at the parent level since more than likely the older stock will need to be reworked.

    This should be enough information to get you going.

    Here’s my idea; I think tomcat is not starting properly so kill all Java process & start the tomcat again. You might be experiencing some port conflict. There must be a log somewhere since without that info it is really hard to detect the source of your issue. You may also want to start the server in nohup mode to see the nohup log at a minimum.
