Another day and one more conference to follow online. Thanks to social media, twitter and a large group of analysts attending 2019 Siemens Media & Analyst Conference in New York. Few interesting news and data points that I caught during the screening of tweets I wanted to share with you. You can check twitter hashtag #SiemensNYMAC

1- Siemens Digital Industries Software

Goodbye Siemens PLM software. The software giant is moving beyond PLM and rename itself into Siemens Digital Industry Software. More about it in the following article.

Today at the 2019 Siemens Media & Analyst Conference in New York we formally announced that the name of our company is changing from Siemens PLM Software to Siemens Digital Industries Software. This new name not only reflects our new position inside the core operating company of Siemens Digital Industries, but also how we’ve evolved from the industry leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to the company with broadest portfolio of industrial software and services that is the foundation for digitalization strategies at companies around the world. Across all multiple industry segments and geographies, companies of all sizes are choosing to partner with Siemens and to select our software as the foundation of their digitalization strategy. Our broad portfolio of software enables unique, industry-specific workflows and helps companies tackle complexity.

2- Xelerator – platform for digital future

Siemens is launching a new platform to absorb all acquired companies, technologies, and products. Check more here.

Xcelerator is a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software and services for electronic and mechanical design, system simulation, manufacturing, operations and lifecycle analytics. It can be personalized and adapted to fit customer and industry-specific needs – and easily extended using the powerful Mendix low-code application development platform.

Top three advantages – automation, innovation, and digital thread. My favorite is the digital thread, which supposed to orchestrates the flow of information across the ecosystem by creating a traceable digital thread.

And of course, Twins and Models are in the central place of the platform.

3- New Search Tool Development

One can think search is old news. Nope. There is always a place to innovate in search. Especially when your goal is not to search, but actually to find something. Siemens is coming with a worthy development of “finding” user experience and tech. Take a look below. The hint is that it will use a user interface, mouse and keyboard interaction. Honestly, I have no idea what is that. Maybe it is a tool that will take TeamCenter Active Workspace to the next level of search experience.

4- Last, but my favorite – Supply Chain Collaboration.

Siemens is predicting huge growth in contract manufacturing and supply chain work. To answer the demand, Siemens is coming with a set of new tools to provide controlled access to IP.  Teamcenter or Contract Manufacturing.

An interesting data point is a prediction about $654B market in contract manufacturing. This is a big deal and it is 40% in electronic.

What is my conclusion? Lifecycle and Changes. Siemens PLM is evolving into a giant conglomerate of software producers covering every single piece of software for engineering, manufacturing, and industry. It is a time to watch the development of some platform elements of Siemens Industrial Software. Just my thoughts…

Best, Oleg
