How to modify the attachment of an Item , when Item is in MCO ?

This activity goes against business rules.  Since the attachment is inherently the part number and any risk to release of the file to an entity that effects any build, sale or procurement is possible… the best course of action is to use an engineering change and increment the revision.  Consider this rule to be a risk aversion.

If you are asking how to modify attachments when the latest released change was on an MCO – – with correct privileges you can still modify the attachments – you just have to do it at the ECO released level.  As Patrick mentioned – the attachments should be considered as part of the revision record and are therefore ECO controlled.

If your policies allow modifying attachments without rev advancement – you can change the rev dropdown to the latest ECO released rev and then you are able to modify/add/remove attachments.  Again – as Patrick mentioned – there is risk to doing this and the ability to do so should be given selectively as to not compromise your item data.
