How to import description on MCO for 40 0 Items

Hi,

We have a field called “New Description” on “Affected Item’s” tab of MCO, there are 400 Items that need to have new description, we are unable to import through in built functionality since this “New Description” field is not appearing in Import fields, also we are not allowed to write a stand alone code to make this happen, how can we import the description any idea ?

Thanks,

Surya

Import field is on the Part object or the MCO object?

Hi Patrick,

The field is on MCO Object.

Thanks,

Surya

What is the purpose of the field?  Being attached to the MCO tells me it is not a permanent part of the PART record.  I would have expected this field to be part of the PART object.  Regardless, I suspect this would be two imports (but I am not convinced it will work as imagined), the first would be adding the parts to the MCO and the second would be to add the description to the affected parts rows on the MCO.

Item descriptions are Change Order controlled and cannot be updated via an MCO. An MCO can be used to grant access to modify the Item description directly, but it cannot be imported to the MCO.Affected Items.Description field.

I mean, they have a PX in system, that takes New Description from MCO affected row and then puts that in to Part, upon MCO release.

So, we want to update the “New Description” on MCO’s affected row.

Ah, changes are not “importable,” so you won’t be able to import to Affected Item fields, just Item fields, which are then mapped to the Affected Items. This could be done, however, via an SDK app, which performs special imports.
