Difference between ECO and DCO
In our System the ECO is used to releasee DMR objects (Parts and Documents) an DCO is used to release DHF objects.
The difference is made due to the fact that the DMR Objects need to go to the ERP system and DHF objects are only present in Agile.
The next reason why we have created multiple change orders is the difference in the workflow. In the ECO the workflow steps are different that in the DCO.
ECOs are meant for Parts and BOM whereas DCOs are meant for Documents.
These are eventually the same. But splitting this as ECO and DCO gives better option to search, report and Analyze.
Similar to above answers, we use ECOs for any design releases of parts, BOM, and documents destined for production/manufacturing… in other words items that go into our ERP system.
DCOs are used to release and rev control documents (other than manuals that ship to customer, etc) that don’t go to ERP, This covers a variety of documents such as internal reference documents all the way to our quality management system procedures.
