Agile BOM and Obsolete Items

Is there a way to restrict Obsolete Items from showing in a BOM? I would like to use something similar to a release date, where after that date (obsolete date), the item will not display. 

I am thinking this needs to be a PX?

You might be able to do it a privilege, allowing only read BoM table items not in Obsolete.  User would just get grey line showing something is there but not revealing the detail.
