Yes, but to delete the values you have to change them to something else anyhow since the system won’t let you delete values that are being used. So we may as well just change them to the proper value. I also don’t want to delete them since it will also remove history.  I think for us the best answer is to do an import to correct the values all at once, which is what I’ve told them to do.

Thank you for letting me know about the preference. I never noticed it before.
It seems like all it controls is when you search, if it is flipped to No then you don’t see Inactive list values in the search.

I processed a part through with an inactive product line and the system didn’t stop me even with this preference set to No. 
Too bad, that would have been great if it could fix this issue.

Thank you Matt. Unfortunately I don’t have the skill set for creating PXs. I’d love to learn though. I wonder if there are any classes on this. I’ve dabbled in sql so I think I could pick it up.

It does make sense that mfg/purch should be able to make sure the mfr that is obsolete is no longer used but unfortunately people make mistakes, and we’re just trying to avoid that, make it foolproof.

We would delete the manufacturer but once it has been used on a mfr part, even if the mfr part is deleted, you can’t delete the manufacturer name.

I wish Agile had a little bit more control on manufacturers and mfr parts.

Naresh – I would love to just do it with a new modify but unfortunately you can’t build criteria that says ‘mfr part is on an unreleased part’. If agile would allow us to use the data from the ‘where used’ tab of the manufacturer part then I could do it by limiting the modify to mfr parts that are not on the where used tab of a part or even better, mfr parts that are on preliminary part’s where used tab.  Unfortunately, agile doesn’t allow that.  Best we get is you can limit add/remove of mfr part from mfr part tab of a part.
