Production on VM …
I am tempted to get the experts’ feedback on having Agile PLM Production (9.3.3) system on Window VMs in a 2 node clustered setup?
This temptation is good, are all components on VM (12c Weblogic,DB) or Middle-ware component is on VM? In Any case, …
Anyone doing it using a VMware environment for production (2008 R2 server OS)? We are a running on 4 total servers.. 1 DB, 1 FM and 2 managed servers.. Each with 3 Agile servers for a total of 6. We will be running EC which is driving our server count according to the sizing guide.
Has someone already setup Prod in VM environment? What are the challenges and experience so far? …
For us other than the DB which is in Unix box, rest of the components would be in VMware setup (2008 R2).
The reason asking this is that the Oracle support shares as below …
“Oracle has not certified any of its products on VMware virtualized environments. The supported environment is a dedicated server for running the Agile Application.”
I had the agile installation 9.3.3 on my Windows VM though it’s not clustered, it’s running smooth, as parithosh was mentioning there might be a data synchronization issue in PXs.
We have it for test and works and performs fine. no concerns. We got the same comment from support.
I would be very careful on your core count for license’s for the web logic. From what i understand.. It has to do with the underlying hardware.. not what is provisioned for the server.
We have our production on a VM and have gone live about a month ago. No issues so far and everything seems to be working fine.
We haven’t done any performance testing but the servers seem to be handling the load very efficiently. There are 4 managed servers and 4 file servers overall load balanced.
