CEBIT and Hannover Messe
CEBIT was the largest and most internationally representative computer expo. Since 1986 the event was traditionally the computing part of the HANNOVER MESSE, the world’s leading trade show for industrial technology. In 2018, CEBIT was run for the final time.
In 1986, at CEBIT the big topic in the IT world was office communication. Since then, a lot of innovations have been presented at CEBIT: the first laptop computer was shown back in 1986. The first mobile phones, the first SatNav system (1994), the first mobile phones with built-in cameras as well as first microwave oven that was connected to the internet were being demonstrated at CEBIT in 1999. In 2001 the hype moved on to M-Commerce (retail using mobile devices), in 2010 Cloud Computing was the big topic, and autonomous vehicles were one of the trends in 2017. Many of these innovations are part of our daily life today.
