Integration is one of the key areas that can increase the total value of your business systems. Integrations between CAD, PLM, and ERP are a great example of this. Each of these systems requires the data to support its own business processes. And of course, each system requires that the data be formatted to the system’s specifications so that the system can consume it. Without integration, businesses are left with using people to populate downstream business systems which can become a source of non-value-added cost and discrepancies between the systems.
An integration’s most valuable aspects are its abilities to:
· Eliminate duplicate data entry
· Enforce data consistency
· Enforce data integrity
These are achieved by reducing the points of data entry and pushing the data to the appropriate system at the appropriate time using software instead of people.
In this video, Razorleaf demonstrates two different business system integration points. The first is using the Essig (formerly SofTech) integration between SOLIDWORKS and Aras Innovator. This integration point will process the SOLIDWORKS CAD design and build the representative records and relationships as well as store the files in the Aras Innovator PLM system. PLM can then used to the review and approve the design. The second integration point is the Razorleaf Clover integration between Aras Innovator and SAP. This integration point will process the items and bill of materials in Aras Innovator and build representative item masters and bill of materials in SAP. While business system integrations all have their unique specifics, this demonstration provides an overview of the concepts that apply to all CAD, PLM, and ERP integrations and Razorleaf has applied those concepts to many different software packages.
