Unable to view thumbnails.

I have enabled Thumbnails, and set up the supported file types, but I am still unable to view the actual image as the thumbnail for the item/file folder. I have checked the file managers as well. Is there something I’m missing?

I’m able to open the file itself in AutoVue viewer, but the thumbnail image itself defaults to as shown in the image below. Please help.

Admin > System Settings > Viewers & Files:
On the File Association Tab – make sure the “Auto Generate” box is checked for png files.
On the General Information tab – You may also want to make sure that “png” is added to the “Directly Use These Thumbnail Image Types” field.

Are you experiencing this issue for all file types or are any other thumbnails generating successfully?

Note – if the Auto-Generate option wasn’t already enabled – you may need to restart the file manager after making any changes.

Hi Danny,

the AutoGenerate box is checked for the required types (png, jpg and jpeg, in my case). These 3 file types are also already included in the Directly Use These Thumbnail Image Types.

We are experiencing the issue for all 3 file types, and none of them are generating thumbnails, on any object type.

Have you checked your Vue Server Host and Vue Server Port in the File Manager advanced settings?  (Admin > Server Settings > Locations > File Manager > Advanced)
I have been through a lot of thumbnail generation issues in the past, but there are so many different issues and causes that it can be very difficult to troubleshoot.
I do remember having to change the URLs in the ‘DmsService’ and ‘VueLink’ URLs in the server.conf files – I don’t know if this is the case for you – but you might want to check that they are correct.

If all of this configuration looks good – you may need to open an SR with Oracle Support.

Hi Danny,

All the file manager settings seem correct – the configuration check shows the status of all the connections (including DMS, Application, Attachment Server, etc) as “Successful”.

I will go ahead and open an SR with Oracle and see what they say.

Thank you!

Each user can enable or disable thumbnail view at the user level. Go to the user’s preferences tab and make sure that thumbnails are enabled at the user level. They will need to logout and back in for the change to take effect.

In Java Client – Go to user’s Preference Tab->Set thumbnail as (ON).Next step go to classes from admin tab select the object on which you are adding thumbnail ->go to cover page -> set thumbnail as visible (yes)
Note that the object on which you adding thumbnail must have Read,Modify,Discovery priviledge.
