Migrating Data from Omnify PLM to Agile PLM

Hi, my company is talking about migrating data from Omnify PLM to Agile PLM. Omnify PLM is our legacy system.

What’s the best practice of data migration for moving data from on PLM system to the next?

Hi newbie,

here comes some questions that you must answer before any movement towards the execution of the integration.
– What do you intend to do, are you decommissioning the legacy PLM or do you intend to keep both in parallel?
– is there 3D files?
– is there project execution data to integrate?
– Have you a way to extract metadata and data from the legacy?

1) Figure out what you want to move from Omnify to Agile. This is data, files and relationships.
2) As Carlos noted, figure out how to get the data/files/relationships out of Omnify, so they can be loaded into Agile.
3) Configure your new Agile system to handle the data and relationships that you want to load.
4) Find someone to help you do this.

Assuming that if nothing else you have changes with release dates, Import will not work, as it does not process changes. So you would have to use DataLoad, and that is the reason for the fourth task. Find a company and/or group to assist you in doing this, someone who has experience in migrating data and in loading it into Agile.
The very first task can cover a LOT of stuff, so starting to think about it now will be a good thing. And the results from that then drives the second and third tasks. You may have a lot (or a little) that you wish to migrate, but figuring what it is up-front helps make sure tasks 2 and 3 can be done correctly.
