Impact Analysis

So I found this community / forum and thought I might ask some questions. We’re currently working with the Agile system (Agile PLM for Process, web based) and the version indicates “LMP –    6.2.0.0”. From the system we now mainly use “GSM – Global Specification Management (also version6.2.0.0).

The system is provided/supported by our group. I have two questions:

  1. Is our version 6.2.0.0 current? When entering this question I saw Agile PLM (v9) which to me indicates that there’s already a version 9?
  2. Is it possible to use the system in such a way that you can do an impact analysis of changes? Lets assume you want to replace one ingredient for another, then we want to know upfron the impact on all formulations without actually applying these changes.

To solve the impact question I wrote a tool myself. It enables us to load data from the system, reconstruct the complete trades / formulations trees and calculate the values for nutrients.

Impact Analysis

It’s also possible to replace materials / formulations / trades items and see which formulations / trades are impacted and which will be out of spec (according to our custom defenition for what is out of spec).

Impact Analysis

I’m looking forward to your reactions.

Hi Romano,

1. The screenshot and as per your description it looks  Agile PLM for Process aka Prodika. The highest available version for the same is 6.2.0.0. This suite is used for F&B Industry majorly.  A9 is for discrete industries and mainly for Manufacturing, Hi-Tech, Medical and Automobile industries.

Note: The current view that you see here is loaded using Hierarchy-Navigator utility. You can download it from Extensibility pack.

2. Coming to doing impact analysis i don’t think there is an inbuilt tool, however you can query table “formulationSpec” table do a join with IngrdientSpec  to find out all the formulas and drill down their BOM details and can see if this particular Ingredient is used.

Arif

Thanks for the answers, which confirm that at least we’re running on the latest version (prodika sounds familiar and we’re in the F&B Industry). The screenshots are from my own developed application.

Since we also weren’t aware of an inbuilt tool, I created one myself. I really wonder how other users determine the impact of changes. When it comes to impact analysis, it’s not about just finding trades / formulations which use a certain other trades / formulations / materials but we want to know what happens to the nutrients of the trades / formulations when an ingredient is replaced. We can also use it to determine if the data that is currently calculated in Agile is correct (based on a comparison when we calculate the data ourselves outside the Agile system). The latter can happen when a user forgets to overwrite / fill the Material Output Spec for a formulation after it calculated.

We have set certain limits by which we want to determine the impact on a nutrient level. As you can see in the screenshot, my tool compares the value that comes out of Agile (Value) and compares it to the value as calculated by the tool (Calculated). Depending on certain rules, a difference is or isn’t tolerated. As you will see, values can differ but are still tolerated by our rules.
