Default BOM template

In Agile 9.3.3. does anyone know the process/steps to modify the default BOM template so that we can exclude certain columns of data?

When on the BOM Tab up towards the top right there should be a personalize drop down. You would select Personalize then Format. Now you will be able to change your view and see the data you want.

I’m actually looking to change the BOM template when the BOM is exported. Would personalizing my view also change the format/layout when exporting to Excel for example.

The other suggestion is to run a BOM Report and create a format with the data you need and save the report into Excel. This will work.

You can use the report located under Standard Reports/Product Reports/BOM Explosion or Manufacturer BOM Report and create a new Layout selecting the fields that you like and then create an Excel report (assumes you have BI Publisher enabled). You also have the ability to tailor the .RTF template of those reports if necessary. If I recall, exporting the BOM via the actions menu exports all the fields in the Base view, not a tailored view.

Our contract manufacturer pulls the BOMs through the actions menu. Previously they used Build Version:8.5.120 and with our recent upgrade to 9.3.3 the layout and number of fields differs. This creates a challenge for them in that they have written a number of macros based on the previous format/data set.

You mention the ability to tailor the .RTF template. Would this be the same template used when exporting to Excel through the actions menu? If so how does one go about accessing and modifying it?

actually the .rtf file is the layout for the BOM Explosion and Mfr BOM report and can be downloaded/edited from the Tools Icon/Administration/Report Templates so that will not work for your particular use case.

I am pretty sure that in 9.x the export utilizes the Base View configuration for export and that one cannot be directly edited (only Save-As). I suppose one option would be additional “re-formatting” macros and another would be utilizing the embedded BI Publisher (seehttp://docs.oracle.com/cd/E50306_15/otn/pdf/whitepapers/agaar.pdf). BI Publisher allows you to define .rtf templates and generate custom reports in a variety of formats including .xls

I still would not give up on the Report approach. First create a search (it may need to be relationship search) that will allow you access to the attibutes on the search results screen. This may take a littlle practice to get it right. When you have a goid search save it. Hopefully you can create a search thst will give you complete results. Once complete create a report using your saved search. You will need to go into Format of your search and apply the proper attributed for your report. i am sure with a little practice you will have a complete report.

You could modify the “Base View” of your BOM. That is the view that is used for BOM export. You would have another view for everyone else to use.
