How to change the Sort Order of Base View

Is it possible to change the default sort order of the BOM Base View for Parts?  I believe the attributes of the Base View are changed by modifying the BOM table in the Parts Class itself. However, I cannot find a way to change the sort order of the data (Not the order the attributes are displayed in the row . . . the order that the data is sorted).

This is the on the Parts, not through the Change Order user interface tab.
So just go to Parts class user interface tab in the Java Client for BOM attributes and reorder the columns there as you need. That’ll update the BOM and redlined BOM tables for what you see on Change Order affected items.

You can also try the “Personalize” filter and formatting criteria on the top right corner of the BOM (but below the affected items table).

Thanks, but I don’t think this answers my question.
I understand how to reorder the columns.  However, I want to sort the rows that are in the BOM table.  The default seems to be a sort by Find Num, and then Item Number, but I would like to change the default to sort the rows by another column.
I would like this to be the default view for all users.

The sort order can be modified by the Personalize view. In the first tab of the displayed dialog when you click Personalize, there is the sort criteria (till 3 fields configurable).
Once applied, you can save as the base view to something new but you cannot override the Base View.
Once saved this personalized view as global, all users can select it by default for all Items. It is not possible to assign automatically to all users but each of them has to select it as default.

Thank for the detailed answer.  You confirmed my belief, and now I can stop looking for a way to do it!
