“Comments” attribute on a History Tab of a user object

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out how “Comments” box on History Tab of a user object can be used. When I try to update it, I see a message “Table can’t be updated”. I can’t find this attribute in the modify privilege and I can’t see an option of how it could be added when a change on a user object is made either. It seems that it works differently then on routable objects.  Do you know if it is possible to maintain additional info there?

Thank you in advance,

Dorota

The “Comments” attribute in the History tab cannot be updated by users, to my knowledge. It simply holds additional information concerning the event that the record specifies for the object record. For non-routable objects (documents, parts, users, manufacturers, customers, etc.), it notes when the object was created, modified and referenced by a change (if an item). For a routable object (change, PSR, QCR, Declaration, etc.), it does the above and also notes when changes occur in the workflow of the object (being promoted or demoted, an approver rejection or approval, etc.).

But I have never seen where the field was available for update, for any object.

Hello

You could do a Actions->Send and the comments you put in there gets recorded in that field

Thank you for help, Raj. That was easy 🙂 I was looking for a “comment” button, did not expect that “send” serves the same purpose here.

Have a great day,
