Can’t email an item to an external address

Hi, if we click on a part, then click Actions > Send and send to a user.  It will send the email to a user within our company.  But if you try to send it to someone with an external email like @Gmail.com, it never goes to their inbox.  Any ideas why?

What is it you are attempting to accomplish.  Sounds odd that you would send an item (I suspect link right?) to someone outside the company that may not have an account within Agile.  This can be managed through export functions especially using the PDX download and Agile Express viewer on the outside resource end.

Actually it is an existing Agile user account.  Like a manufacturer that we do business with.  Their email is set in their user account.  In their user preferences, it says Yes for Receiving Notifications.  If they are included in a Workflow, they should receive the email notification, but they never do.  I checked settings in Agile, but don’t see any setting that says emails will only be sent to a certain domain.  I used the Actions > Send as another example that won’t send the email.

Could be a restriction on your company’s mail server preventing Agile from sending to external addresses.

I suspect that the user would need to check on their side.  Make sure the sending domain is trusted and that they are not ending up being spammed out.

In addition to what Danny and Patrick shared, also verify that the “Mail Server External” value is as expected under Server Settings –> Databases.

We actually have 2 Agile instances running.  The older one has no problem sending to an external email address.  And the new instance is configured the same.  Same settings for the External Mail Server (smtp2.<domain>.com ) and same “from” address (agile@<domain>.com).  If the mail server were preventing external addresses, then the older one would be having problems too.  But the older instance still works fine.  Our email administrator is telling me it must be some setting in our newer Agile instance.  If so, I can’t find it.
