Alternate BOMs

I saw one other post regarding the use of Alternate BOMs and suggested using the variant BOM Module. Are there any other options?

So if we have three circuit boards and they are all acceptable for use on a Product, could we create a BOM eg “Circuit Board”

Product BOM

“Circuit Board” BOM Qty 1

  • Preferred Board Qty 1
  • Alternate Board 1 Qty 0
  • Alternate Board 2 Qty 0

ERP can use WO maintenance if they choose to use one of the other boards?

Is anyone doing something similar or other thoughts?

Hello

Yes, we follow this kind of approach

One additional thing we did. We wrote a PX that sets an attribute “Alt Flag” to Yes for Alternate Board 1 and 2 in your example. In that way, it is easy to identify this in UI as well as simple for downstream systems to interpret
