We are proud to announce that Oracle has been recognized as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Manufacturing Execution Systems.

Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) can deliver significant ROI and create value for companies in the manufacturing industry, making this recognition a testament to Oracle’s success in delivering value to its customers.

Oracle’s MES functionality is supported by Oracle Manufacturing Cloud (OMC), Oracle Quality Management Cloud and Oracle IoT Production Monitoring Cloud, key components of the integrated Oracle Supply Chain Management Cloud that offers a single, connected suite of products for manufacturing organizations.

In this year’s Magic Quadrant, Gartner focused scoring slightly more on customer growth and vendor innovation. The report listing Oracle as a Leader is based on the following strengths:

•  Oracle is fully committed to the cloud and leads in defining what it means to be a successful cloud provider, other than just where to run the application. This has freed Oracle to produce an application without the constraints of bringing along legacy artifacts from older on-premises applications.

•  OMC is a solution that has capabilities for managing contract manufacturers as part of a larger supply chain context, developed internally and refined by actual use in Oracle’s manufacturing plants. Management of contract manufacturing is a differentiator for OMC.

•  OMC leverages Oracle’s strengths in data analytics; supply chain functionality; planning, scheduling and warehouse management; and PLM to provide a compelling suite of solutions. We believe, Oracle is providing a steady stream of new functionality, which has been well received by reference customers that Gartner surveyed.

Oracle Manufacturing Cloud, together with Oracle Quality Management Cloud and Oracle IoT Production Monitoring Cloud provides leading MES capabilities to manufacturing organizations. They leverage Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) to help companies streamline their global, mixed-mode manufacturing operations, simplify shop floor execution, optimize real-time decisions, and control quality and cost.

What differentiates Oracle from other vendors is the fact that Oracle supports both discrete and process MES in the same manufacturing application. Mixed-mode manufacturing, allows our customers to combine discrete, batch and continuous process capability that can be run in the same plant, the same work center, or even the same item. Which method you use is driven by the work definitions defined for the product. This flexibility allows you to determine the best manufacturing method for each stage of production, such as using process manufacturing for bulk processing and using discrete manufacturing for final packaging. Discrete manufacturing on the cloud, includes contract manufacturing, configure to order, and drop shipment and Process manufacturing on the cloud, includes batch production with co-products and by-products. This mixed-mode capability supports build to stock, build to order, configure to order and engineer to order. Oracle will launch project-based manufacturing capabilities for aerospace and defense, communications and other project-oriented businesses in early 2020.
