One of the topics of my special interest at SuiteWorld 2019 last week was around Manufacturing. NetSuite is growing in different verticals and manufacturing is one of them.

One of the sessions I visited was about mobile applications in manufacturing – mobile suite. The session was presented by David Gustovich, AVP of Supply Chain at Oracle NetSuite, Matt Wisner, Industry Principal Manufacturing, Ken Staresinic, Director of Supply Chain at Oracle NetSuite and the team.

I like this “If life would be that easy…” chart showing an ideal process flow.

But… life is more complex in manufacturing and requires complex interaction and data collection and collaboration.

You can think about typical user experience of enterprise application as a bunch of charts, tables and data elements. You would be right. However, of the thing things I paid attention this year at NetSuite was a focus on more cleaner, simple, Excel-like user experience. It was everywhere and I will speak more about it in my later article. But here are just one example of such interface:

And of course, mobile applications were focusing on tasks and experience of people following the process, data entry and validations.

What is my conclusion? Process and data. This is an essence of enterprise manufacturing processes. It is good to see Oracle NetSuite is focusing on a continuity of data and process across multiple devices. Manufacturing companies live a complex life of silos. Whatever can make data flow more seamless will be wining in a complex manufacturing world. Just my thoughts…

Best, Oleg
