When deploying the SOLIDWORKS Connector with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform there is a troublesome behavior when a user is actively using Workspace Folders. The Platform persistently presents a login window if the user computer is not connected to the network or the Platform. In this article, Razorleaf will describe how to work around this annoyance.

In Windows, actively used folders are added to the Windows Quick Access folder (whether using Windows 7 or 10). Since ENOVIA Workspace folders behave in the same way as Windows folders, Windows will treat them in the same way. Later, if the user is accessing Windows File Explorer, but isn’t connected to the Platform or connected to a network to allow connection to the Platform, the Platform will persistently popup a Platform login.

This behavior can become very annoying. It is caused by Windows trying to display the Workspace Folder in the Quick Access folder area. When this happens, the Platform presents a login to the user. One of our customers became so annoyed they uninstalled the SOLIDWORKS connector software.

Working with Dassault, Razorleaf discovered a workaround. The workaround is much less drastic than uninstalling the connector software.

The first workaround involves completely turning off the Quick Access for folders. From the File Explorer > View > Options, uncheck “Show frequently used folders in Quick access”. However, now there won’t be a Quick Access for your Windows folders (see above).

If disabling Quick Access isn’t desired, the individual folders can manually be removed from the Quick Access area. The ENOVIA Workspace Folder are the green folders and while still logged into the Platform RMB > Remove from Quick Access the Workspace folders to remove.

Using this command, the specific folder should not appear again in the Quick Access, even if the Workspace folder is used every day. However, for any new ENOVIA Workspace folder that shows up, the removal process will need to be repeated to remove that folder from the Quick Access area.
