Dassault Systemes Power'ByDassault Systèmes will be turning on the POWER’BY technology in the upcoming R2018x release of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. How POWER’BY affects customers is yet to be seen. In this blog by Jonathan Scott, Jonathan describes how POWER’BY can be leveraged in a Digital Twin strategy. In this blog, the impact to new and existing customers will be described.

As far as we know, POWER’BY is not a role, license, etc., it is a feature that can be configured. Whether a customer enables or turns on POWER’BY immediately becomes a choice, and that choice is determined based on when a customer first deploys the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

In early 2018, we should see a release of the Platform that will enable POWER’BY for CATIA V5 and SOLIDWORKS CAD platforms. Later in 2018, we should see other releases of R2018x that will further enable POWER by for Solid Edge, Inventor, Creo, NX, etc.

For a new customer adopting the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform there really shouldn’t be a choice since POWER’BY is a strategic direction for Dassault. Therefore, new customers should simply adopt POWER’BY as part of their default deployment, especially if those customers use CATIA V5 or SOLIDWORKS.

For existing ENOVIA customers upgrading to R2018x there could be some options as to whether they migrate to POWER’BY. The existing Designer Central (DEC) based integration technology will remain to continue to manage xCAD like Solid Edge, Inventor, Creo or NX, until these integrations become available with POWER’BY, too.

So, whether you’re a new customer to the Platform or an existing customer looking to upgrade to R2018x, there will be some choices with POWER’BY. Razorleaf will be here to help you understand your options.
